postheadericon Worship

I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
Psalm 40:1-3

Worship Services

At Gayton, we enjoy beautiful and diverse expressions of worship every Sunday morning.

At our 9:30am Service, we worship God through the contemporary sounds of today’s rock/pop music. This style is the natural musical language of many of our members and regular attenders, as well as some of our unchurched guests. What a joy to celebrate the new songs God’s people are writing Him!

Gayton also recognizes and affirms the wonderful ways God has been worshipped for hundreds of years before our church even began. Our 11:00am Service combines the great songs of today with the powerful hymns of our faith tradition, all with a lighter instrumentation. We’ll continue to sing some hymns the way many grew up singing them, and others in an updated style.

In all our services we offer our resources to further God’s mission here at Gayton and throughout the world. In all our services we hear God’s Word, are led in prayer, and are challenged to grow in our commitment to follow Jesus Christ. May all of our Worship Services help our congregation and guests bring great glory to God!

Opportunities to Serve

There are many ways to serve in the Worship Arts ministry here at Gayton, but the most important way you can participate in worship is to join us as we seek to worship God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength.

The Gayton Choir leads the congregational songs of worship and shares a worshipful anthem every other week during the 11:00am Service.

Our Lead Singers lead the congregational songs of worship each week in our 9:30am and 11:00am Services.

The Worship Band for our 9:30am Service typically consists of piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, and drums. Our 11:00am service utilizes some of these same instruments, combined with a Brass Section comprised of trumpets and trombones.

We are blessed to have many student and adult instrumentalists who provide the accompaniment for the congregational songs of worship and special musical selections.

We also hear many other instruments in our services as well . . . violins, flutes, saxophones, mandolins . . . you’ll hear them all enhance the worship we offer to God.

Helping our congregation to worship the Lord is not relegated to musicians or paid staff! There are many opportunities to serve on Sunday mornings as we gather for worship:

  • preparing the Worship Center for Sunday’s Worship Services
  • creating visual art for the Worship Center
  • decorating the Worship Center
  • offering administrative help to the Worship Arts Pastor
  • designing and running the visual presentations which appear on the screens
  • operating the sound board
  • communicating truth through drama
  • reading Scripture
  • sharing your faith story with the congregation
  • leading the congregation in prayer

Worship Arts Ministries for Children and Youth

Gayton offers three Children’s Choirs: Cherub Choir (2-3 Year Olds), Little Praisers (4-5 Year Olds), and our Hallelujah Choir (Grades 1-5). The Hallelujah Choir sings regularly during Sunday Worship Services. All the choirs share in two musical dramas each year. In addition to singing and acting, children create visual art to prepare for the production of each musical.

CREATE is one of most exciting ministries at Gayton. This free program allows 6th-12th grade students to study the piano, guitar, bass guitar, or drum set. The purpose of CREATE is to inspire a vision in youth that God can use their gifts to help others worship Him. This vision takes wings virtually every Sunday morning as at least one of our high school students helps lead our congregation in worship with their musical gifts.

Visual Arts

A growing ministry at Gayton is our Visual Arts Ministry. We are all blessed by the artistry our members and attenders have created to express God’s truth and beauty. View samples of artwork created by artists in our congregation.
